Job summary

Murphy is recruiting an Assistant Bid Manager to join the Work Winning Proposals Team in Golborne, Wigan. You will lead tenders up to £50m across electricity infrastructure and Natural Resources, working with the Bid Manager to deliver high-value bids on time.

Responsibilities include handling client questions, drafting standard bid text, maintaining the bid library, coordinating meetings, and coordinating supplier data to ensure compliant, polished submissions.

Qualifications

• Experience in delivering high value bids across Rail/Transportation, Highways, Water, Power, Building, Oil and Gas, and Tunnelling.

Responsibilities

• Manage own tenders up to £50m across electricity infrastructure and Natural Resources.
• Cover bids across power infrastructure (substations, cables) and Natural Resources, incl. gas AGIs, pipeline diversions, hydrogen, CO2 projects.
• Find new contracts by checking procurement websites daily for notices, PQQs and expressions of interest in energy and gas sectors.
• Handle client questions by logging and tracking official communications with utility clients and ensure timely responses.
• Write basic answers focusing on company history, health and safety records, gas/electricity compliance standards, and environmental policies.
• Organise bidding files by maintaining a central bid library with project photos, case studies, staff CVs, and past answers.
• Keep meetings on track by booking progress meetings, noting actions, and chasing team members to finish on time.
• Gather supplier info by contacting subcontractors and equipment suppliers to collect safety certificates, insurance, and confidentiality agreements.
• Check for mistakes by reviewing final tender packs to ensure all forms, financials, and appendices are included.
• Make documents look professional and upload by final formatting and handling client portal submissions before deadlines.
