Job summary

NES Fircroft seeks an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support a major Energy from Waste facility in the Midlands. You will lead commissioning, testing, start-up and handover of critical plant systems, ensuring safe operation and project milestones are met.

The role requires hands-on boiler and Flue Gas Treatment knowledge, the ability to read P&IDs, and strong HSE and stakeholder management skills to coordinate with construction, operations and engineering teams during the start-up phase.

Qualifications

• Proven commissioning experience in energy from waste or heavy industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of boiler systems and steam generation.
• Experience with FGT (Flue Gas Treatment) systems.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs and process diagrams.
• Commitment to high HSE and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Support and execute commissioning across mechanical, electrical and process systems.
• Develop and implement commissioning procedures and test documentation.
• Lead system walkdowns, punch lists and turnover activities.
• Coordinate activities with construction, operations and engineering teams.
• Conduct pre-, cold- and hot- commissioning and start-up activities.
• Oversee performance testing and system optimisation during start-up.
