Job summary

Astute People is seeking a Lead C&I Commissioning Engineer for an energy-from-waste turbine project in Scotland. The role starts immediately on a 9-month contract, with a day rate of £500–£550 outside IR35. You will lead the C&I commissioning strategy, FAT/SAT, and handover to operations.

Experience in hot commissioning, test sequences, and safety instrumented systems is essential, as is the ability to deliver safely and to schedule on a UK-based EPC site.

Qualifications

• Experience leading C&I commissioning on energy/industrial plants.
• Knowledge of DCS, SIS, BMS and safety systems.
• Proven track record in FAT, SAT/SIT and related activities.
• Ability to operate in the UK and deliver to schedule.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the C&I commissioning strategy, system breakdown, test sequences, procedures, ITPs and commissioning schedule.
• Review C&I design documentation and lead FAT activities for DCS, SIS, BMS and package control systems, ensuring punch items are closed out.
• Lead pre-commissioning activities including walkdowns, handovers, instrument calibration, loop checks, cable/termination checks and I/O verification.
• Manage SAT/SIT and verify interlocks, permissives, sequences, alarms and safety instrumented functions against design requirements and BS EN 61511.
• Lead C&I activities through hot commissioning, including first fire, boiler/turbine commissioning, control loop tuning, CEMS, grid compliance, reliability and performance testing.
• Ensure safe and compliant delivery, manage control system changes, complete turnover/as-built documentation and train operations and maintenance teams for handover.
