Job summary

Adult Community Learning (ACL) is seeking a dedicated Community Trainer to deliver inclusive learning across Essex. You will help adults build confidence and grow skills for everyday life, progress to employment or further study, and support participation in local communities.

Based with ACL, part of Essex County Council, you’ll work in community settings to engage learners, adapt delivery to diverse needs and promote safeguarding, equality and inclusion in all activities.

Qualifications

• Teaching qualification or willingness to train to one.
• Experience delivering learning to adults in community/outreach settings.
• Inclusive, learner-centred teaching practice.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess high-quality community learning sessions tailored to learner needs and community priorities.
• Deliver entry-level and community learning programmes, including English, maths, digital skills, employability and wellbeing.
• Embed English, maths and digital skills within learning programmes where appropriate.
• Support learners to develop confidence, wellbeing and progression through creative learning approaches.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs and additional support requirements.
• Use assessment and learner reviews to monitor progress and celebrate attainment.
• Collaborate with community partners to engage new learners and support participation.
• Promote ACL courses at community events and outreach activities.
• Champion safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion in all delivery environments.
• Contribute to curriculum planning, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
• Engage in professional development and reflective practice to maintain teaching skills.
