Job summary

Essex County Council's Adult Community Learning (ACL) team is seeking a Community Trainer in Maldon. The role focuses on delivering inclusive community learning, developing English, maths and digital skills, and supporting learners to progress into further study or work.

You'll work across Essex to create welcoming learning experiences, promote inclusion, and collaborate with partners. A teaching qualification and experience with adults are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering learning, training or support to adults.
• Strong understanding of inclusive, learner-centred teaching practice.
• Ability to build effective relationships with learners and community partners.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess high-quality community learning sessions tailored to learner needs and community priorities.
• Deliver entry-level and community learning programmes (English, maths, digital skills, employability, wellbeing).
• Embed maths, English and digital skills within learning programmes where appropriate.
• Support learners to develop confidence, wellbeing and progression through flexible learning approaches.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs and support inclusion.
• Use assessment and learner reviews to monitor progress and celebrate achievement.
• Collaborate with community partners to engage new learners and promote ACL courses.
