Job summary

Hft is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to empower learning disabled adults to live life their way. You will support independence, participation, and wellbeing in a respectful, person-centred role.

The role requires patience, strong communication, and a willingness to learn, with flexibility to cover evenings and weekends. DBS/background checks are part of the process and training is provided.

Qualifications

  • Patience, supportiveness, and respect for people’s choices.
  • A positive, encouraging approach that celebrates achievement.
  • Strong communication to build trusting relationships.
  • Willingness to learn and work towards a Health and Social Care qualification.
  • Confidence providing personal support when needed.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, waking and sleep-in shifts.
  • Experience in social care is welcome but not essential; your attitude and values matter most.

Responsibilities

  • Enable people to make their own choices and live life as they see fit.
  • Encourage participation in social, leisure, work, and community activities.
  • Promote health, safety, and wellbeing while respecting decisions.
  • Support people to attend health appointments and manage medication confidently.
  • Build independence and self-belief, step by step.
  • Assist with daily living and personal care when required.
  • Keep accurate records and follow safeguarding practices.
