Job summary

Silverways School, part of Kedleston Group, is seeking an enabling teaching assistant to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and support transitions for new and returning pupils. You will work in class, using restorative practices to put the child at the centre and liaise with staff and parents about tailored support.

Responsibilities

• Identify strategies to help overcome individual pupils’ barriers to learning.
• Be prepared to use humour and restorative practice to ensure a child-centred approach.
• Support the transition of new pupils arriving or existing pupils returning to school, putting the necessary support in place to overcome any barriers to learning
• Provide in class support as necessary to meet the needs of the school.
• Liaise with other staff to monitoring pupils’ behaviour and well being
• Build positive relations with parents/carers to encourage family involvement in their child’s progress.
• Communicate with parents/carers about specific support in place for their child.
