Job summary

Sense College Streatley in the South East of England is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to help learners with disabilities access learning and build independence. You will work 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:45am–3:45pm, and provide person-centred support in line with each learner's plan.

We value compassionate, reliable team players who can adapt their communication and support needs, including signs and symbols. Full training and ongoing development are provided.

Qualifications

• Previous caring or support experience gained in a personal, voluntary or professional capacity.
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• The ability to adapt your communication style to meet the needs of the people you support.
• A willingness to develop new communication skills, including signs and symbols where required.
• The ability to support people with their mobility and participate in activities alongside them.
• Confidence using your own initiative and good judgement.
• A creative, person-centred approach to problem solving.
• The ability to build positive working relationships and communicate effectively with learners, colleagues and others.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, person-centred support tailored to each learner and their support plan.
• Help learners participate in meaningful activities and develop independence.
• Support learners with mobility, health, wellbeing and personal care as needed, and help them access community activities.
