Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking a dedicated SEND Secondary Tutor to provide personalised educational support to young people in Hereford and surrounding areas. This in-person role focuses on one-to-one tuition for secondary students with SEND and SEMH needs, helping them stay engaged and progress.

You will tailor activities, monitor progress, build trust with learners, and work with parents and professionals to safeguard and support each student’s educational goals.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching, tutoring or supporting secondary-aged young people.
• Experience working with students with SEND and/or SEMH.
• Experience delivering one-to-one or personalised educational support is desirable.
• A good understanding of the secondary curriculum and/or a relevant subject specialism.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging, accessible and personalised learning.
• Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach.
• Ability to adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people.
• Willingness to undertake enhanced DBS check, where required.
• Satisfactory professional references.
• You must have the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one tuition to secondary-aged students.
• Support students across subjects depending on experience and subject specialism.
• Support students with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Plan engaging, accessible and personalised learning activities.
• Adapt teaching approaches to suit abilities and engagement levels.
• Help students develop confidence, resilience, independence and positive attitudes.
• Support students who may have struggled within traditional school environments.
• Help students re-engage with education in a positive and meaningful way.
• Support students to work towards individual educational goals and qualifications.
• Monitor progress and provide appropriate feedback.
• Build positive, consistent and trusting relationships with students.
• Work collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals.
• Maintain clear and professional communication.
• Follow safeguarding procedures at all times.
