Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking a dedicated SEND Secondary Tutor to provide personalised educational support to young people in Hereford and surrounding areas. This in-person role focuses on one-to-one tuition for secondary students with SEND and SEMH needs, helping them stay engaged and progress.

You will tailor activities, monitor progress, build trust with learners, and work with parents and professionals to safeguard and support each student’s educational goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching, tutoring or supporting secondary-aged young people.
  • Experience working with students with SEND and/or SEMH.
  • Experience delivering one-to-one or personalised educational support is desirable.
  • A good understanding of the secondary curriculum and/or a relevant subject specialism.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, accessible and personalised learning.
  • Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach.
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people.
  • Willingness to undertake enhanced DBS check, where required.
  • Satisfactory professional references.
  • You must have the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

Job description

SEND Secondary Tutor - Hereford

Location: Hereford and surrounding areas
Phase: Secondary / SEND / SEMH
Working arrangement: In-person

Quantum Scholars is looking for a supportive, patient and experienced SEND Secondary Tutor to provide personalised educational support to young people across Hereford and the surrounding areas. This is an in-person tutoring role and is not online work.

The role will involve working one-to-one with secondary-aged students who may have SEND and/or SEMH needs and who would benefit from a flexible, individualised approach to learning.

You will be expected to build positive and trusting relationships with students, adapt your teaching and support to meet their individual needs, and help them develop their confidence, engagement and progress.

Some students may have experienced difficulties accessing mainstream education and may require a calm, consistent and encouraging approach. The successful tutor will be passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and re-engage with education in a positive and meaningful way.

Essential requirements

  • Experience teaching, tutoring or supporting secondary-aged young people
