Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking supportive, patient SEND/SEMH Tutors to work with children and young people across Herefordshire. Roles are in-person and not online, focusing on personalised educational support and building confidence and engagement.

Tutors will deliver one-to-one or small-group sessions, adapt teaching to needs, and collaborate with parents and professionals while upholding safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in educational, tutoring or support settings.
• Experience working with students who have SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Ability to adapt learning and support to meet individual needs.
• Strong communication, organisation and relationship‑building skills.
• Patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Delivering one-to-one or small-group tuition to primary and/or secondary-aged students.
• Supporting students across a range of subjects, depending on experience.
• Supporting students with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Planning engaging, accessible and personalised learning activities.
• Adapting teaching approaches to suit different abilities and engagement levels.
• Building positive, consistent and trusting relationships with students.
• Helping students develop confidence, resilience and independence.
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback.
• Working collaboratively with parents, carers and professionals as required.
