New College Durham is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to help learners aged 16+ in a Further Education setting at Durham. You will work with teaching staff to provide one-to-one and small-group support, including learners with SEND, and assist with personal care where required.

Experience in SEND, excellent communication, and a patient, flexible approach are essential. Enhanced DBS and relevant qualification are desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting learners with SEND, ideally within a post-16 or Further Education setting.
• Experience providing personal care support or willingness to undertake relevant responsibilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, caring and flexible approach to supporting learners.
• Ability to build positive relationships with learners, staff and wider support networks.
• Relevant Learning Support, SEND or Care qualification (desirable).
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsabilités

• Providing one-to-one and small group support to learners, including those with SEND. Assisting learners to access, understand and engage with lessons and learning activities.
• Supporting learners with personal care needs in a respectful, professional and dignified manner where required.
• Encouraging learner independence, confidence and participation in the classroom.
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams to promote positive learner outcomes.
• Monitoring learner progress and maintaining accurate records where required.
• Promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion at all times.
