Niche Education Ltd is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Darlington. You will support students with complex needs and help them access learning in a calm, supportive environment.

The role suits experienced teaching assistants or those with transferable SEN experience from healthcare or other sectors. Excellent communication, resilience and the ability to build respectful rapport with pupils are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as a teaching assistant or transferable SEN experience from healthcare or another sector.
• Experience with children or young adults with special needs.
• Ability to engage with pupils and enforce positive behaviour.
• Ability to challenge pupils when they display negative behaviour.
• Ability to build a strong rapport with SEND students.
• Be resilient and stay calm under stress.
• Excellent communication skills are essential.
• Be responsive and flexible to differing pupil needs.
