Job summary

Wayman Education is assisting a Bedford-based secondary school to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant. You will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide targeted literacy and numeracy support and help pupils access the curriculum effectively.

The role involves one-to-one and small-group support, adapting approaches to individual student needs and promoting independence, confidence and appropriate study skills in the classroom.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in a school, education, childcare, youth work or similar environment.
• Patient, approachable and able to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with teachers.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom and individual support to pupils who require additional assistance with their learning.
• Support pupils during lessons, helping them understand instructions, complete activities and develop study skills.
• Assist with literacy, numeracy, organisation and general classroom engagement.
• Monitor pupil progress and communicate observations with teachers and pastoral staff.
• Support transitions between lessons and participate in wider school activities when required.
