Job summary

YMCA Derbyshire is seeking a dedicated housing/support worker to be a steady, trusted presence for people living in our supported accommodation. You will help residents move beyond just a place to stay, building confidence, skills and independence to thrive in their own homes.

You will balance person-centered support with strong housing practice, ensure homes are safe, tenancies well managed, and empower people to lead fuller lives.

Qualifications

• Experience within a housing or support based role.
• An understanding of, and commitment towards safeguarding principles.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the people we support, with colleagues, and with professionals.
• Solution-focused, highly organised and able to manage competing priorities.
• Team player who can also work independently when needed.

Responsibilities

• Be the steady, trusted presence for people living in our supported accommodation, helping them move from simply having a place to stay to building confidence, skills and independence to truly live well in their own home.
• Balance people-focused support with excellent housing practice, ensuring homes are safe and tenancies are well managed.
