Job summary

Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced Employment Law Solicitor to join an established legal team based in Leicester.

This is an excellent opportunity for an employment lawyer looking to manage a varied caseload and provide practical, commercially focused advice to both employers and individuals.

The role would suit someone who enjoys a mixture of advisory and contentious employment work and is confident managing matters with a good degree of autonomy.

The Role

As an Employment Law Solicitor, you will advise clients across a broad range of employment matters, supporting them through both day-to-day issues and more complex disputes.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Advising employers and employees on a broad range of employment law matters

• Handling employment tribunal claims and contentious matters

• Advising on disciplinary and grievance procedures

• Providing guidance on redundancy, restructuring and settlement agreements

• Advising on discrimination, whistleblowing and unfair dismissal matters

• Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, policies and related documentation

• Advising on employee performance and workplace issues

• Assisting with negotiations and dispute resolution

• Representing clients in employment tribunal proceedings where required

• Preparing pleadings, witness statements and other legal documentation

• Conducting legal research and providing clear, practical advice

• Liaising with clients, barristers, HR professionals and other advisers

• Managing a varied caseload and ensuring matters progress within required deadlines

• Building and maintaining strong client relationships

• Maintaining accurate and compliant case files

• Supporting business development and client relationship activities where appropriate

About You

We're looking for a confident and commercially minded Employment Law Solicitor with solid experience across both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.

You should have:

• Qualified solicitor status in England & Wales

• Previous experience within an employment law team

• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation

• Experience handling employment tribunal matters

• Good experience advising on contracts, policies and workplace issues

• Strong drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills

• Excellent communication and client-management abilities

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

• The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines

• A practical and commercially focused approach

• Confidence working independently while contributing to a wider team

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a technically strong employment solicitor who can provide clear, commercially sensible advice while maintaining excellent client relationships.

You'll be comfortable handling contentious matters through to resolution, while also advising clients on preventative and day-to-day employment issues.
