Job summary

Carrington West's client, an Employee Owned Trust, is seeking a Geotechnical Design Engineer to join their in-house geotechnical consultancy in London. The role focuses on delivering temporary and permanent works design, retaining walls, pile foundations and excavation support, while building broader design and consultancy skills within a supportive team.

You will work with the Head of Geotechnical and internal leads to deliver practical geotechnical solutions across new build and reuse schemes,

Qualifications

• Experience in geotechnical design
• Ability to develop ground models
• Strong report-writing skills
• Knowledge of UK geotechnical practice
• Willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical design packages including temporary and permanent works
• Review site investigation data and develop ground models
• Prepare desk studies, calculations, reports and drawings
• Assist with ground investigations and proposals
• Carry out ground movement and soil-structure interaction assessments
• Liaise with stakeholders to support design solutions
• Help prepare reports and project documentation
• Support management of budgets, resources and deadlines
• Ensure outputs comply with standards and safety
• Provide guidance to junior team members
