Job summary

Carrington West is partnering with a practice to recruit a Geotechnical Design Engineer for their in-house consultancy. The role focuses on delivering temporary and permanent works design across diverse schemes, with exposure to retaining walls, piled foundations and excavation support.

You will work closely with the Head of Geotechnical and multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, high‑quality solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience in geotechnical design; ability to develop independent solutions.
• Ability to review ground investigation data and derive design parameters.
• Strong written and verbal communication for technical reports and client updates.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical design packages for temporary and permanent works such as retaining walls and pile foundations.
• Review site investigation data and assist in developing ground models and parameters.
• Prepare technical deliverables including calculations, reports, specs and drawings.
• Coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders to support practical design solutions.
• Ensure outputs comply with standards, codes of practice and health and safety requirements.
