Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join a specialist Ground Engineering team supporting one of the UK's largest infrastructure programmes in Birmingham.

You will provide breadth across earthworks, foundations, retaining structures and ground conditions, reviewing technical information, challenging proposals and advising on standards. The role blends design knowledge with site delivery and pragmatic problem solving.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist in civil engineering.
• Strong technical knowledge across earthworks and foundations.
• Broad ground engineering experience including retaining structures, ground conditions and construction materials.
• Experience across geotechnical design and site-based delivery, with ability to link design to construction.

Responsibilities

• Review technical information, challenge proposals, and advise on standards and specifications.
• Help project teams and contractors reach pragmatic, technically robust solutions.
• Provide engineering judgement to complex problems beyond standard processes.
• Contribute to innovation, standards, and industry publications.
