Job summary

Cardiff Council is seeking a proactive Information Governance professional to support its Information Governance team, ensuring compliance with data protection, information governance, and records management across council services and contracted schools.

You will analyse privacy risks, conduct DPIAs, investigate incidents, and provide expert advice to senior officers and schools, helping secure data and meet statutory obligations.

Qualifications

• Ability to analyse data and provide meaningful advice to officers and team members.
• Experience working with schools or educational settings to advise on compliance.
• Ability to manage deadlines and respond to competing priorities and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate data protection and privacy risks through Data Protection Impact Assessments and supporting services to implementing of new processes and systems in a compliant manner.
• Conduct investigations on behalf of the Council’s Information Governance Manager and Data Protection Officer, liaising with officers, citizens and third parties to ensure actions are carried out.
• Analyse data from assurance audits and present key information to senior officers within the service.
• Provide guidance to Cardiff Schools on data protection, information governance, records management and access to information obligations.
