Job summary

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service seeks an experienced Information Governance Manager and Data Protection Officer to lead the Information Governance function and provide expert advice across the Service.

You will ensure information and personal data are managed securely, effectively and lawfully, while supporting compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act, and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act.
• Experience as Data Protection Officer or Information Governance lead.
• Ability to interpret legislation and provide practical guidance.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Experience in leading teams and driving continuous improvement.
• Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and external partners.
• High integrity and commitment to confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Information Governance function and act as the Service's DPO under Article 37 GDPR.
• Provide expert advice on data protection, information governance and information sharing.
• Ensure compliance, including DPIAs, data breaches and information requests.
• Develop and maintain information governance procedures, training and guidance.
• Lead the IG department, supporting performance and continuous improvement.
• Monitor legislation and risks, advising managers and the SLT in a timely manner.
