Job summary

Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Band 7 Educator to lead resuscitation training and education for ED staff within the UEC division.

The post involves teaching, governance, and ongoing clinical practice across the resuscitation room and related units. You will deliver simulation-based training, develop competencies, and work with senior teams to meet national standards.

Qualifications

• Emergency Department Band 7
• 2 years Experience
• Evidence of leadership in a resuscitation room
• Practice supervisor and assessor

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical nursing expertise on resuscitation in the ED resuscitation room.
• Ensure evidence and research based best practice.
• Provide a positive role model for nurses and students.
• Maintain a strong visible clinical presence.
• Spend one shift per week in the nursing numbers in the resuscitation room.
• Spend 50% of remaining time working with nursing staff in care delivery of resuscitation and deteriorating patient.
• Develop standards of care to ensure optimum and appropriate care delivery.
• Collaborate with Resuscitation and Critical Care Outreach teams to ensure staff competence.
• Deliver resuscitation simulation in clinical practice and classroom.
• Ensure high-quality documentation in line with ASPH and NMC standards.
• Promote high standards of patient care via policies/protocols in line with trust objectives.
• Develop and implement competency framework.
• Work as a team member with clear communication.
• Network with other clinical practice educators in UEC and across the trust.
• Maintain professional conduct and development.
• Support department with other duties within scope.
• Facilitate a supportive learning environment for all learners.
• Deliver at least two days of clinical teaching each month.
• Foster learning environment within departments for staff development.
• Assess and identify resuscitation educational needs via annual training analysis.
• Provide clinical and theoretical support to registered nurses.
• Support multidisciplinary staff development of clinical skills.
• Assist in development and review of protocols/guidelines.
• Undertake competency assessments in practice.
• Promote innovative practice and implement change as needed.
• Support development of staff to teach and supervise others.
