Job summary

Ashford and St. Peters Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a nursing educator to spend a weekly shift in the emergency department resuscitation room, with remaining time dedicated to clinical practice across the UEC division to teach and support junior staff in recognising the deteriorating patient.

The post supports governance issues related to deteriorating patients, delivers the UEC education strategy, and develops nursing competencies to ensure high-quality care and patient experience.

Qualifications

• ALS and ANTC training with previous experience working at band 7 level within the emergency department.
• Experience teaching resuscitation skills within the clinical or classroom setting such as simulation.

Responsibilities

• Achieve a highly skilled team of emergency and urgent care nurses in resuscitation care and recognition of the deteriorating patient.
• Work clinically with ED nursing staff in the emergency department resuscitation room and across the urgent and emergency care division.
• Deliver training to achieve 90% nursing staff ILS/ALS across the division and level 2 trauma training in ED.
• Provide training and competence for nursing staff in sepsis, DKA, NIV.
• Provide visible, credible professional leadership within the division and promote multidisciplinary governance.
• Support UEC team to deliver patient care during OPEL 4 and winter pressures.
