Job summary

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service is seeking a Driving Instructor to design and deliver specialist driver training for firefighters and fire staff across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. The role involves creating training packages, evaluating progress, and ensuring high safety and compliance standards.

You will work within the Driver Training Team, travelling to locations as required, and contribute to professional development through ongoing training and meetings.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at Grade C or above.
• LGV Category C with at least 3 years’ experience.
• Recognised instructional or coaching qualification (NFCC ERDT Instructor preferred).
• Commitment to ongoing professional development (CPD).
• Strong organisational, communication, and record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and assess driver training across a range of fire and rescue vehicle and locations.
• Maintain accurate records of training activities, assessments, and participant progress.
• Update and develop training materials to reflect current best practices and legislative requirements.
• Ensure all training courses comply with NFCC/DRIVING VEHICLE STANDARDS AGENCY and legislative standards.
• Manage training equipment and resources to ensure fit for purpose and available as needed.
• Lead initiatives related to environmental training and sustainability within the organisation.
• Collaborate with external partners and other fire and rescue services to enhance training outcomes.
• Support quality assurance processes to monitor and improve training delivery.
