Job summary

Ipsum is seeking a Drainage Engineer to respond to urgent drainage incidents and provide expert solutions across the Midlands region. You will investigate failures, assess risks to safety and infrastructure, and coordinate with authorities to ensure high-quality service.

On-call and out-of-hours work are required, with a company vehicle provided. The role requires a civil engineering or drainage degree (or equivalent experience), a full UK driving licence, and knowledge of drainage legislation.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent experience) in civil engineering, drainage or related industry
• Full UK driving licence
• Knowledge of drainage legislation, SuDS principles and flood risk frameworks

Responsibilities

• Respond to urgent drainage incidents, flooding events and emergency call outs across the Midlands region
• Investigate drainage failures, blockages, collapses and flooding issues to identify root causes
• Assess risk to public safety, highways, properties and infrastructure and recommend immediate mitigation measures
• Provide technical guidance on emergency work, temporary repairs and permanent solutions
• Review CCTV surveys, jetting records and inspection data to support remedial recommendations
• Coordinate with regional teams to prioritise reactive drainage workloads
• Liaise with contractors, local authorities, water companies and emergency services during incidents
• Produce accurate technical reports, recommendations and incident records
• Ensure all activities comply with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
