Job summary

Ipsum is seeking a Drainage Engineer to respond to urgent drainage incidents within the Midlands region. You will investigate blockages, collapses and floods, identifying root causes and advising on immediate and long-term mitigations.

Ideal candidates have a civil engineering degree or equivalent, plus experience in reactive drainage operations, flood response and asset investigations. A Full UK driving licence is required and flexibility for call-outs is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or equivalent in civil engineering, drainage or related field.
• Experience in reactive drainage operations and flood response.
• Knowledge of drainage legislation and SuDS principles.

Responsibilities

• Respond to urgent drainage incidents across the Midlands region.
• Investigate blockages, collapses and flooding to identify root causes.
• Assess risk to public safety and infrastructure; recommend mitigations.
• Provide technical guidance on emergency work and repairs.
• Review CCTV, jetting records and inspection data for remedial actions.
• Coordinate with regional teams to manage workloads effectively.
• Liaise with contractors, authorities and utilities during incidents.
• Produce technical reports and incident records with accuracy.
• Ensure activities comply with health, safety, environmental, quality standards.
