Job summary

Ipsum is seeking a Drainage Engineer to respond to urgent drainage incidents across the Midlands region. The role involves investigating blockages, collapses and flooding, and providing effective solutions to protect public safety and infrastructure.

You will work on day and late shifts with 24/7 call-outs, including on-call rota every 1 in 3 weeks. A UK driving licence and civil engineering background are required, with opportunities for career development and a company vehicle.

Qualifications

• Experience in reactive drainage operations and flood response.
• Proven ability to investigate drainage assets and identify root causes.
• Strong understanding of public safety considerations in drainage incidents.
• Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Midlands.

Responsibilities

• Respond to urgent drainage incidents and emergency call-outs across the region.
• Investigate drainage blockages, collapses and flooding to identify root causes.
• Assess risk to public safety, highways, properties and infrastructure and propose mitigation.
• Provide guidance on emergency work, temporary repairs and permanent solutions.
• Review CCTV surveys and inspection data to support remedial recommendations.
• Coordinate with regional teams to prioritise reactive drainage workloads.
• Liaise with contractors, authorities and other stakeholders during incidents.
• Produce accurate technical reports and incident records.
• Ensure all activities meet health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
