Job summary

Ipsum Utilities Limited in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, is seeking a Civils Drainage Engineer to respond to drainage emergencies across the Midlands, investigate faults and blockages, and protect public safety, property and infrastructure.

You will unblock drains with rods and high‑pressure jetting, repair and replace pipework and manholes, conduct CCTV surveys, carry out reinstatement works, and prepare accurate electronic reports while ensuring health, safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in the drainage industry and fault diagnosis.
• Ability to clear blocked drains and perform repairs.
• Familiarity with CCTV drainage surveys and jetting equipment.

Responsibilities

• Attend emergency and planned drainage work within response times.
• Investigate and diagnose drainage faults, blockages, flooding and system failures.
• Unblock drains using rods and high-pressure water jetting.
• Repair/replace damaged pipework, gullies, manholes and associated assets.
• Excavate and reinstate as required.
• Install new drainage systems and connections.
• Conduct CCTV drainage surveys to identify defects and remedial solutions.
• Complete rehabilitation works including patch lining and pipe repairs.
• Identify root ingress, collapsed drains and structural defects.
• Prepare accurate electronic reports, survey findings and photos.
• Ensure works comply with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
