Job summary

Ipsum Utilities Limited is seeking a Civils Drainage Engineer to respond to drainage emergencies across the Midlands, inspecting faults, blockages and system failures. You will unblock drains with rods and jetting, repair damaged pipes, and install new drainage assets, while ensuring safe, compliant project delivery.

The role requires experience in drainage systems, good diagnostic skills and a valid UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Experience in the drainage industry and knowledge of drainage systems, foul water and sewer networks.
• Ability to diagnose faults and identify appropriate repair solutions.
• Experience with CCTV surveys, water jetting and drainage rehabilitation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Attend emergency and planned drainage work within agreed response times.
• Investigate and diagnose drainage faults, blockages, flooding and system failures.
• Carry out drain unblocking using rods, high‑pressure jetting and specialist tools.
• Repair and replace damaged pipes, gullies and manholes.
• Undertake excavations and reinstatement works where required.
• Install new drainage systems and connections.
• Conduct CCTV drainage surveys to identify defects and remedial solutions.
• Complete drainage rehabilitation works including patch lining and pipe repairs.
• Identify root ingress, collapsed drains and structural defects.
• Complete accurate electronic job reports and photos.
• Ensure works meet health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
