Job summary

NHS National Services Scotland in Glasgow is recruiting full-time and part-time Emergency Call Handlers for the West ACC to operate in Cardonald. The role prioritises emergency calls and delivers life-saving guidance to callers.

You'll undergo in-house training, complete a typing assessment, and become a certified Emergency Medical Dispatcher. Shifts include unsocial hours with enhanced pay rates; job may require travel for training.

Qualifications

• Typing assessment required for non-ACC applicants (30 wpm, 90% accuracy).
• Excellent communication, prioritisation and decision-making under pressure.
• Experience in ACC, healthcare, contact centre or face-to-face settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer and prioritise 999 calls and provide life-saving advice.
• Liaise with ambulance crews and other emergency services.
• Provide life-support, first aid and medical guidance as needed.
• Support control centre operations under supervision and workload pressure.
