Job summary

Volta is seeking a platform engineering leader to oversee EMEA delivery, bringing together Europe-based engineers into a cohesive regional structure. You will drive the platform roadmap with the VP and grow multiple capability teams while maintaining continuity for people and projects.

You will stay hands-on in architecture reviews, own reliability, and work across security, infrastructure, and delivery teams to keep the platform coherent as it scales across regions.

Qualifications

• Track record leading software engineering teams, ideally 20+ people across multiple teams.
• Experience reorganizing an existing team and changing reporting structures.
• Engineering leadership with delivery ownership, able to contribute to design reviews.
• Understanding of cloud service infrastructure: virtualization, storage, networking, multi-tenancy, and bare metal.
• Working knowledge of hardware interactions with GPU, fabric and storage.
• Experience taking software from early stage to production.
• Maturity to deputize for senior leader across time zones.
• Ability to define clean seams across organizational boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Lead the EMEA platform engineering teams and own their delivery against the platform roadmap.
• Integrate Europe-based platform engineers into the EMEA structure with continuity.
• Grow the region across multiple capability teams and own regional hiring.
• Act as deputy to the VP: represent Platform Engineering in EMEA and align regions.
• Stay hands-on to lead architecture and design reviews and provide decisive input during debates.
• Own reliability and operational quality, including on-call, incident response, and post-incident improvements.
• Manage the boundary between platform software and hardware, coordinating with infrastructure and delivery teams.
• Collaborate with security engineering to bake security into the platform across the lifecycle.
• Be credible with customers in the region when required.
