Job summary

Volta is building out platform engineering teams that own the full stack from bare metal to API surfaces. You will design Kubernetes operators, translate roadmaps into platform capabilities, and cooperate with bring-up teams on operational improvements.

Expect collaboration in Agile environments and strong emphasis on reliability and security. You will work across compute, networking, storage, and control plane areas, with potential deep specialization based on team and background.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of software engineering experience with infrastructure or platform systems.
• Strong backend or systems programming in production; languages include Python, Go and Rust; other OO languages welcome.
• Solid understanding of Kubernetes internals: CRDs, controllers, operators and reconciliation.
• Comfortable with Linux, networking fundamentals and distributed systems behavior.
• Experience designing production APIs and versioning with backward compatibility.
• Experience operating production systems, including on-call or incident response.
• Strong fundamentals: clean code, testing, version control, code review and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Kubernetes operators and controllers for platform resources.
• Turn roadmap requirements into platform capabilities in collaboration with product teams.
• Identify operational pain points with bring-up teams and build scalable features.
• Incorporate security guidance into platform controls and remediate findings.
• Instrument services for observability and define meaningful metrics.
• Own services in production and participate in on-call rotation and post-incident follow-up.
• Maintain clean interfaces and disciplined handling of breaking changes.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and cross-team Agile work.
