Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal in London seeks an experienced Payroll Specialist to own the end-to-end payroll cycle across multiple countries in the EMEA region, working within a centralized team to ensure accurate, on-time payments and full statutory compliance.

The role focuses on payroll automation and continuous process improvements, collaborating with HR, Benefits, Finance and external vendors, and supporting month-end reporting and Global Payroll initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in in-house payroll processing for 2K+ employees across multiple countries in the EMEA region.
• Solid knowledge of payroll legislation, social security regulations, and benefits provisions across Europe.
• Experience working with local payroll providers and managing relationships with external vendors.
• Experience with payroll automation and continuous process improvements.
• Proficient in MS Excel and data analysis; strong use of MS Office tools.
• Excellent stakeholder management, confidentiality, and customer service.
• Strong organisational skills to manage multiple payrolls and deadlines across time zones.
• Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll cycle for various countries in EMEA, ensuring accurate, on-time payments and compliance.
• Prepare by-law mandatory payroll documents and registrations for each country.
• Adhere to payroll cut-off dates and coordinate with payroll providers and business partners.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and internal policies.
• Ensure approvals are obtained for payroll finalisation and payments.
• Update FX rates for salary/bonus translations as needed.
• Act as primary contact for payroll-related queries from employees, tax authorities, and providers.
• Deliver month-end payroll reports to Finance and support accounting reconciliations.
• Support continuous improvement of payroll processes and participate in Global Payroll initiatives.
• Collaborate with The People Team, Finance, HR, Benefits, and stakeholders to maintain a trusted payroll service.
