Job summary

Iron Mountain is seeking a strategic Design Manager to lead end-to-end design delivery for data centre construction across European markets. You will manage third-party consultants and collaborate with internal teams to align programs with global specifications.

The role requires extensive experience in M&E-led facilities, strong leadership of multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to travel internationally up to 25% to support projects across London, Amsterdam, Madrid, and Frankfurt.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in design delivery of mission-critical facilities (Data Centres, Pharmaceutical, or Energy).
• Strong knowledge of complex mechanical, electrical, life safety, and control systems; familiarity with national/local building codes.
• Proven ability to direct multidisciplinary design teams and manage vendor/internal stakeholder relationships.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead third-party design consultants to deliver mission-critical data centre facilities that align with global specifications.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration with internal construction, finance, sales and operations teams to execute fit-out programs and validate business pursuit opportunities.
• Provide engineering oversight: direct budget, schedule, and product delivery to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Manage project risks by identifying critical engineering risks and opportunities early in design to protect timelines.
