Job summary

Nscale in the United Kingdom is seeking a Reliability Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical) to provide cross-discipline M&E engineering expertise across its EMEA data centre estate, acting as the technical escalation point for on-site mechanical and electrical systems and helping set engineering standards as the business scales.

You’ll focus on high-density AI compute, improving cooling performance, power resilience, and coordinating with AI Infra teams.

Qualifications

• M&E engineering background in critical environments.
• Experience in design reviews and standards compliance.
• Audits of third-party or colocation facilities.
• Ability to sign-off on changes and assess risk on live systems.

Responsibilities

• M&E Technical Support: act as the on-site escalation point for mechanical and electrical systems.
• Set and maintain maintenance standards and technical baselines for sites.
• Provide input into procurement and technical services contracts.
• Design Review & Engineering Assurance at concept, detailed design and pre-handover stages.
• Review vendor submissions and O&M documentation against standards.
• Provide technical support to AI Infra teams for rack cooling and power distribution.
• Own change approval and sign-off across sites.
• Assess and challenge supplier-raised works on live systems.
• Run technical audits as part of engineering-standards program.
• Assist in site audits of colocation facilities and track findings to closure.
• Provide RCA and CAPA, guiding problem solving on faults.
• Lead structured problem solving using data to address root causes.
• Maintain the engineering standards library for scalable operations.
• Develop and deliver training to raise M&E capability.
• Due diligence for new sites and Site Mobilisation input.
• Support capacity and thermal engineering modelling for higher-density racks.
