Job summary

Fuse Energy is seeking an embedded firmware engineer to develop low-level firmware for microcontrollers and real-time control software for energy devices in Greater London.

You will write and test C/C++ firmware on bare-metal or RTOS platforms, collaborate with hardware and controls teams, and participate in code reviews while shaping firmware deployment processes. A strong background in MCU peripherals and debugging is essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in embedded systems or firmware engineering.
• Strong proficiency in C for microcontroller firmware.
• Experience with MCU peripherals: SPI, I2C, UART, DMA, ADC.
• Experience with real-time systems and toolchains (GNU, IAR).
• Familiarity with Git, Docker, and CI pipelines.
• Hardware debugging with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.

Responsibilities

• Develop low-level firmware and drivers for microcontrollers and embedded peripherals (SPI, I2C, UART, DMA, ADC).
• Design and implement real-time control software and embedded algorithms for energy devices.
• Write, test, and debug embedded C/C++ firmware on bare-metal or RTOS-based systems.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems and controls teams to define firmware requirements and test plans.
• Participate in code reviews, write documentation and contribute to firmware practice improvements.
• Assist in board bring-up, profiling and debugging using tools like oscilloscopes, JTAG/SWD, and logic analyzers.
• Implement and maintain bootloaders, linker scripts and firmware deployment pipelines.
