Fuse Energy, a London-based renewables startup, seeks an Embedded Software Engineer to design, implement and scale connected hardware powering the Energy Network. You’ll span embedded systems, networking, device security and fleet telemetry from prototype to deployment.

You’ll collaborate across firmware, hardware and backend teams to deliver robust, secure devices with OTA updates and reliable field operation. Strong C/C++, RTOS, Python and networking skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years building connected embedded products or equivalent experience.
• Strong C/C++ for embedded systems in RTOS environments (Zephyr/FreeRTOS).
• Experience with Python for testing, tooling, or automation.
• Solid understanding of device connectivity, networking basics and protocols.
• Experience with secure communications (TLS, certificates) and provisioning workflows.
• Familiarity with firmware update systems, bootloaders, CI/CD for embedded software.
• Hands-on debugging with lab tools and observability platforms.

Responsabilités

• Develop and maintain connectivity across Ethernet, Wi‑Fi, Thread, Zigbee, and BLE.
• Implement secure device messaging using MQTT, CoAP, HTTP, or WebSockets.
• Support secure OTA update pipelines and device provisioning.
• Contribute to secure boot flows and hardware-backed device identity.
• Integrate devices with cloud IoT platforms and backend services.
