Job summary
AVI-SPL, Inc. is seeking a Senior Email Analyst to lead enterprise messaging and mobile device management efforts. You will oversee Exchange Online, on-premises Exchange, Mimecast, and Valimail, while driving automation and improvements across security and compliance controls.
You will mentor teammates, craft runbooks, and partner with client teams to deploy scalable messaging and mobility solutions. London-area travel and hybrid office attendance are expected.

- Experience with Mimecast, Valimail, and BYOD with Intune.

As a Senior Email Analyst, you will be responsible for the design, administration, support, and continuous improvement of enterprise messaging and mobile device management platforms. You will act as a technical lead and subject matter expert across Exchange, email security, compliance, and mobility services, taking ownership of complex issues and driving solutions through to completion.
The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a proactive approach to problem solving, and the ability to independently investigate, troubleshoot, and implement solutions while identifying opportunities for automation and service improvement.

- Configuration, administration, and support of Microsoft Exchange Online.
- Configuration, administration, and support of on-premises Microsoft Exchange 2016, Exchange 2019 and Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE).
- Planning and execution of Exchange upgrades and migrations, including Exchange 2016 to Exchange 2019 and Exchange SE.
- Administration, support, and optimisation of Mimecast email security services.
- Administration, support, and management of Valimail email authentication services.
- Support and management of BYOD and corporate device email access through Microsoft Intune, including:
- Mobile Application Management (MAM)
- App Protection Policies
- Apple Business Manager
- Android Enterprise
- Monitoring the health, performance, availability, and security of messaging platforms.
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex messaging, email delivery, authentication, and mobility-related issues.
- Collaborating with internal and client project teams to design and deploy messaging and mobility solutions.
- Identifying, developing, and championing automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service reliability.
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles.
- Providing technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge sharing across the wider team.
- Taking ownership of incidents, problems, and service improvement initiatives from inception through to resolution.
- Performing additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed to support the team and organisation, ensuring flexibility in adapting to evolving priorities and objectives.
- AVI-SPL reserves the right to alter work hours and work location as necessary. Work hours may vary based on client requirements and may include travel to various locations in support of the account.
- This position may occasionally require attendance at client sites and interaction with construction-site type working environments.
- Approximately 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting and administering enterprise messaging environments.
- Strong experience with Exchange Online administration and support.
- Strong experience with Exchange 2016, Exchange 2019 and ideally Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE).
- Demonstrable experience planning and delivering Exchange upgrade and migration projects.
- Strong experience administering Mimecast within enterprise environments.
- Strong experience administering Valimail and email authentication technologies, including SPF, DKIM and DMARC.
- Experience managing BYOD and corporate devices using Microsoft Intune.
- Experience with Mobile Application Management (MAM), App Protection Policies, Apple Business Manager and Android Enterprise.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, PowerShell scripting, Active Directory and Entra ID.
- Understanding of email security, compliance, retention, archiving, and best practices.
- Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to take ownership of technical tasks and deliver outcomes with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated initiative and a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong business writing and technical documentation skills.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including IP networking, mail flow, routing, and traffic analysis.
- Experience with Proofpoint Core Email DLP (formerly Tessian).
- Experience with broader email security and data loss prevention platforms.
- Experience automating operational tasks using PowerShell, scripting, or Microsoft automation tools.
- Microsoft certifications such as MS-102, MS-203, MD-102, or equivalent.
- Experience migrating messaging and collaboration workloads within Microsoft 365.
- Formal education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Ideally based within reasonable travelling distance of London.
- Expected to attend the Canary Wharf office approximately two (2) days per week.
- Flexibility will be considered for candidates located further from London where skills and experience are a strong match.
- Travel to client sites may be required from time to time based on project or operational requirements.
