Job summary

Thales is seeking an Electronics Engineer to join our hybrid Reading team. You will design electronic circuit assemblies from concept to system integration, working with systems, mechanical, software, and safety colleagues to deliver optimized solutions.

Some site presence is required for testing and integration with potential home work days. The role covers the full product lifecycle, including requirements, technology selection, design, development, validation and qualification.

Qualifications

• Experience of electronic/electrical design in a real-world environment (circuit simulation, block diagrams, drawing schematics, etc).
• Use of schematic capture packages (Cadence, Mentor Graphics or similar).
• Practical experience of lab work (eg. soldering, circuit testing, cable assembly, debug, etc).
• Some experience testing at circuit board and system level (eg. board bring-up and debug, EMC testing).
• General understanding of engineering process and design lifecycles.
• Personal organisational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake design of electronic circuit assemblies, from concept through design, test and system integration.
• Engage with a multi-disciplinary team across the project (systems, mechanical, software, safety, etc).
• Work collaboratively with the project team to ensure products meet all requirements.
• Contribute to the development of the wider electronics team, including proposing and implementing improvements.
• Generate design documentation such as specifications, test plans and design records.
• Prepare for and participate in peer reviews and project design reviews.
• Report progress of work against cost, schedule and performance.
