Help design the electrical and mechanical systems that protect lives.
At NP Aerospace, we design, develop and deliver innovative solutions for the defence and automotive sectors. As an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll play an important role in developing and integrating vehicle-borne electrical systems and components for specialist military and automotive applications.
Working alongside our Lead Engineer and wider engineering team, you'll take designs from concept through to detailed engineering, supporting projects that demand technical precision, reliability and practical problem-solving. This is an opportunity to apply your engineering expertise to real-world challenges, contributing to products that improve and protect lives.
At NP Aerospace, we know our success comes from our people. That's why we invest in benefits that support your health, reward your hard work, and help you grow your career:
You’ll support the delivery of engineering projects and product-line requirements, working closely with the Lead Engineer and liaising with customers and suppliers where required. You’ll help develop project plans and deliver engineering activities to agreed timescales, ensuring technical requirements are understood and met.
A key part of your role will involve designing and prototyping vehicle-borne electrical systems, including electrical harnesses, circuit schematics and wiring diagrams. You’ll produce engineering drawings, CAD models, Bills of Materials (BoMs) and work instructions to support the modification, installation and manufacture of vehicle systems.
You’ll also contribute to the integration of electrical systems into existing vehicle architectures, considering applications such as battery charging, power distribution, lighting and radio communications. Where required, you’ll support fault diagnosis, investigate OEM electrical systems and help develop solutions involving CAN bus technology and vehicle upgrades.
Throughout the design process, you’ll assess technical specifications, select suitable materials and ensure designs meet relevant performance, cost, weight, strength and compliance requirements. You’ll consider manufacturing and assembly feasibility from the outset, working in accordance with established quality and environmental management procedures.
We’re looking for a practical, technically capable engineer who enjoys solving problems and turning engineering requirements into workable designs.
You’ll also need to be eligible for UK Security Clearance to at least SC level, with existing clearance an advantage. A willingness to travel within the UK and internationally, when required, is essential.
