Job summary

Unipart Group seeks a Design Engineer to lead the development of high‑volume electrification assemblies and plastic injection‑moulded components in Coventry. You’ll drive concept-to-production design, ensuring robust models and tooling considerations for varying production volumes.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, project management and external clients, while maintaining safety and quality standards across the design process.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
• Proven experience designing mechanical assemblies with electrification systems, plastics injection moulding, or complex fabrications.
• Strong fundamentals in drafting and design for manufacture (DFM).
• Adaptable, highly organized, and able to thrive in fast-paced projects with evolving requirements.
• Excellent collaborative communication across engineering teams and customer interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Lead modelling, detail design and engineering solutions for advanced assemblies with electrification and injection-moulded components.
• Join a high-priority, fast-moving initiative with high autonomy to shape processes and outcomes.
• Deliver production-ready drawings, robust mechanical models and tooling considerations for low-to-high volume manufacturing.
• Collaborate with internal manufacturing teams, project management and clients to translate requirements into reliable solutions.
• Maintain SHE standards and comply with relevant quality frameworks and safety regulations.
