Job summary

Mears Group in Glasgow is seeking a skilled Electrician to carry out maintenance, repair, and installation work across tenanted properties. The role is field-based, 40 hours weekly, with a company van and fuel card provided.

You will ensure safe, compliant electrical work in social housing environments. Applicants should have NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations (AM2 preferred), City & Guilds 18th Edition, a valid UK driving licence, and experience in domestic social housing settings.

  • City & Guilds 18th Edition (or plan to complete 18th if only 17th edition held).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience in domestic, social housing settings.

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, fault-find and maintain electrical systems in tenanted properties.
  • Carry out repairs to electrical accessories (sockets, extractor fans, light switches).
  • Perform first fix and second fix electrical installations.
  • Work in a hands-on, field-based role ensuring safe and compliant electrical work.

Job description

Annual salary: up to £36,860.25 Electrician Location: Glasgow Contract: Permanent, Full - Time Salary: £36,860.25 per annum, plus company van & fuel card Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, 8:00am-4:30pm We’re currently looking for a skilled and qualified Electrician to join our team in Tannochside. This is a hands-on, field-based role where you’ll be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems across tenanted properties. The ideal candidate will be reliable and possess strong organisational and time management skills.

Electrical Duties
  • You will need to have proven experience installing, servicing, fault finding, and maintaining electrical systems within the social housing sector.
  • You will have a strong knowledge of installing, repairing, inspecting, and testing electrical installations and carrying out repairs within tenanted properties.
  • The role will include carrying out repairs to electrical accessories such as sockets, extractor fans, and light switches.
  • You will also be expected to have knowledge and experience of first fix and second fix electrical installations.
Role Criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations - to include AM2
  • City & Guilds 18th Edition (If you have 17th edition you can work through your 18th edition)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Previous domestic, social housing experience
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Inspection and Testing 2391 or equivalent (2394/2395) preferable
