Job summary

Mears Group PLC is seeking a skilled Electrical Testing Electrician in Milton Keynes. This hands-on, field-based role covers maintenance, repair and installation of electrical systems across new build properties, with 42.5 hours per week.

You will ensure safety, compliance and high-quality workmanship, working solo or as part of a team, and will benefit from a company van, fuel card and a structured benefits package. This permanent role offers stability and opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations, AM2 included.
• City & Guilds 18th Edition (17th edition ok with 18th).
• Full UK driving licence with a clean record.
• Domestic/social housing experience.
• Inspection and Testing 2391 or equivalent (2394/2395).

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs to lighting circuits, sockets, fuseboards and other systems during testing.
• Inspect and test electrical installations for safety and compliance.
• Replace or repair faulty switches, outlets, light fittings and circuit breakers.
• Work independently or in a team to meet daily testing targets.
• Communicate clearly with tenants about repairs and outcomes.
• Ensure work areas are clean and safe after repairs.
• Follow health and safety policies.
• Provide high levels of customer care at all times.
• Respond to emergency call-outs, including out-of-hours if required.
• Undertake installation, service, repair, and maintenance of domestic properties.
• Use IT systems to manage workload.

42.5 hours per week (8-5 Monday- Friday)

We’re currently looking for a skilled and qualified Electrical testing electrician to join our team. This is a hands‑on, field-based role where you’ll be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems across new build properties.

Electrical testing Electrician required. You’ll play a key part in ensuring homes are safe, compliant, and ready for residents, whether that’s through Electrical Testing, planned maintenance, or supporting wider refurbishment projects. Electrical Duties

• Responsible for repairs to lighting circuits, sockets, fuseboards and other electrical systems during electrical testing
• Inspect and test electrical installations to ensure safety and compliance with regulations
• Replace or repair faulty components such as switches, outlets, light fittings and circuit breakers
• Work independently or as part of a team to meet daily testing targets
• Communicate clearly with tenants or residents about the nature of the repair and expected outcomes
• Ensure work areas are left clean and safe after completing repairs
• Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures
• Provide high levels of customer care at all times
• Respond to emergency call outs when required, including out of hours shifts if applicable
• To undertake installation, service, repair, and maintenance of a broad range of domestic properties
• Use relevant IT systems to Manage and prioritise workload to complete repairs in a timely manner

Role Criteria

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations - to include AM2
• City & Guilds 18th Edition (If you have 17th edition you can work through your 18th edition)
• Full UK driving licence with a clean driving record
• Previous domestic, social housing experience
• Inspection and Testing 2391 or equivalent (2394/2395)
