Deliver high‑quality teaching and learning in all aspects of electrical theory and practice for City & Guilds and EAL at Level 3 and above.
- Develop, prepare and deliver course material.
- Engage and support QTLA in developing resources to improve outcomes for all learners across JTL.
- Teach theoretical and practical subjects at Level 2 and 3 in line with awarding body requirements.
- Assess and approve apprentices’ coursework in accordance with relevant awarding bodies.
- Maintain accurate attendance, punctuality and progress records, prepare regular reports and liaise with the Training Officer on progress, discipline and pastoral issues.
- Advise on the need for materials and equipment, ensuring sufficient stocks for teaching and workshop activities.
- Supervise training activities, ensuring exemplary apprentice discipline.
- Ensure the welfare and safety of apprentices at all times.
- Co‑operate with internal and external inspection bodies, responding to information requests.
- Engage in additional duties as directed by the Manager.
- Guide apprentices through each year of their apprenticeship, supporting completion within the given timeframes.
- Safeguard the pastoral relationship with apprentices, promoting their welfare.
- Respond to customer focus, handling training needs/queries/issues raised by employers, apprentices or related parties in a timely and professional manner.
- Complete all required administration documents following contractual guidelines and within given timeframes.
- Maintain good working relationships with external parties assisting with industry events and committees when required.
- Stay informed of developments in the field of expertise to keep professional knowledge up to date.
- Engage in further duties as directed by the Manager.
Qualifications
- Electrical level 3 technical qualification or equivalent covering the key topics.
- GCSE/O Level Maths and English A‑C, 9‑4 or Maths and English Level 2, or equivalent.
- Teaching experience of an electrical installations syllabus, including blended and remote delivery.
- Evidence of staying up to date with the electrical industry.
- Certificate in Education or equivalent teaching qualification at Level 5, or willingness to work towards one.
- Good presentation skills.
- Good IT skills.
- Verifiable post‑qualification electrical experience within an electrical services organisation.
- Understanding of Further Education.
Desirable
- Recognised Health & Safety qualification (IOSH Managing Safely).
- Assessor qualifications (D32, D33, A1 or TAQA).
- Internal Verifier qualifications (D34, V1 or TAQA).
- Working knowledge of the Contracting Industry / Building and Services Industry, Disability Confident.
