Job summary

Forterra Building Products is seeking an Electrical Technician for the Newbury team. You’ll handle PPM and breakdown support at a busy production site, upgrade old machinery, install new equipment, and drive site efficiency within a TPM framework.

You will perform day-to-day electrical and mechanical maintenance, troubleshoot plant failures, and lead planned maintenance while collaborating across departments to minimise downtime and keep production moving.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
• Recognised electrical qualification (apprentice trained, Level 3 or above)
• Ability to fault find and test automated machinery
• Experience of industrial installations and control systems
• Knowledge of AC and DC drives and PLCs (Siemens S5/S7)
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements
• Recognised electrical trade qualification including latest IEE regulations

Responsibilities

• Attend to machine breakdowns and diagnose electrical or mechanical failures
• Provide engineering cover to meet business demands
• Maintain site electrical plant and equipment to meet production and waste budgets
• Carry out preventative maintenance work orders as required
• Enter all tasks carried out during the shift in the electrical log book
• Build and maintain relationships across departments for quick reactive solutions
• Lead planned maintenance activities
• Support upgrading old and installing new machinery to improve efficiency
• Renovate site facilities
