Job summary

Serco, Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, Norwich, is recruiting multiple Electrical Technicians to maintain critical electrical services across the hospital estate. You will support reactive repairs, planned maintenance, and compliance to safety standards, ensuring patient care remains uninterrupted.

You will join an estates team delivering reliable building services, with training opportunities and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent training.
  • Relevant City and Guilds and/or BTEC electrical qualifications.
  • Experience in large or complex buildings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical building services and safety standards.
  • Strong communication and customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain electrical services, plant, and equipment across the hospital estate to high safety and performance standards.
  • Carry out reactive repairs, fault finding, servicing, commissioning, and maintenance as directed by estates supervisors and managers.
  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance across a wide range of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Work safely at all times, assess risks, follow permits and policies, and seek advice when needed.
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues, supervisors, managers, and hospital staff regarding work activity and service availability.
  • Accurately complete work orders and records using computerised labour control and time and attendance systems.

*Additional rotary shift payment of £1950 per 52 weeks, additional pay 0.5x time on Saturdays, 1x time Sundays and bank holidays when rostered to work.

Due to growth, we are recruiting for several Electrical Technicians supporting the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH), you’ll help keep a critical healthcare environment running safely, reliably, and efficiently. Your work will directly support patient care, colleagues, and the wider community by ensuring essential electrical services are always available.

What you’ll do as an Electrical Technician

You’ll be entrusted to:

  • Maintain electrical services, plant, and equipment across the hospital estate to high safety and performance standards
  • Carry out reactive repairs, fault finding, servicing, commissioning, and maintenance as directed by estates supervisors and managers
  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance across a wide range of electrical systems and equipment

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have…

  • Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent structured training programme
  • Relevant City and Guilds and or BTEC electrical qualifications
  • Proven experience working in a similar environment, ideally within large or complex buildings
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical building services
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach
Vetting and checks

A Standard DBS check will be carried out for this position. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and warnings as permitted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. An Occupational Health Questionnaire will also be completed so we can ensure you have the necessary support to perform your duties.
