Job summary

Forth Ports is seeking an Electrical Shift Technician to join the LCTE Engineering team at the Port of Tilbury. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance on terminal equipment, diagnose faults, and carry out electrical and mechanical repairs while adhering to safety and permit-to-work procedures.

The role requires strong fault-finding skills, experience with AC drives, PLC systems, and a hands-on approach.

Qualifications

• ONC or HNC in engineering discipline (Mechanical or related)
• Completed an engineering apprenticeship
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills across industrial equipment

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair container cranes, straddle carriers, and terminal equipment across electrical and mechanical disciplines.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Work safely and to high standards, ensuring equipment reliability and operational performance.
• Record all maintenance activities, inspections, fault findings and repairs accurately.
• Communicate with Shift Supervisors and Engineering Management with timely updates on faults and progress.
