Job summary

Connect Group Plc is seeking an Electrical Project Manager for a landmark commercial package in Oxford. You will lead the site team, coordinate with the Technical Team and QS, and be the main client contact, reporting to Directors.

You’ll drive delivery, manage documentation and approvals, and ensure safety and quality across the programme, cost, and handover.

Qualifications

• SMSTS certification is essential.
• Experience as Electrical Project Manager in commercial electrical or M&E contractor.
• Strong installation management background on large-scale commercial projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily project delivery via Site Manager and align with programme.
• Prepare and maintain 4–6 week lookahead programmes and recovery actions.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, design changes and installation benchmarks through to approval.
• Lead coordination meetings and provide progress reports to clients, main contractor and Directors.
• Collaborate with QS on cost to complete, forecast final cost, margin and variations.
• Maintain project records, including diary, delay reports and change control.
• Oversee health and safety, RAMS and subcontractor compliance.
• Manage subcontractor performance, labor, plant and procurement lead times.
• Oversee QA, snagging, commissioning, O&M manuals, as-built drawings and handover.
• Complete monthly project reviews covering programme, commercial, design, procurement, H&S, quality and risk.

Job description

As Project Manager, you'll be accountable for the safe, timely, high-quality and profitable delivery of electrical installation works. You'll directly manage the Site Manager, work closely with the Technical Team and Quantity Surveyor, and act as the key point of contact for the client, main contractor and consultants, reporting regularly to the Directors.

• Overseeing daily project delivery through the Site Manager, keeping site activity aligned with the programme and priorities
• Preparing and maintaining 4 to 6 week lookahead programmes and agreeing recovery actions where progress falls behind
• Managing RFIs, technical submittals, design changes and installation benchmarks through to approval and resolution
• Leading coordination meetings and providing regular progress reporting to clients, the main contractor and Directors
• Working with the QS on cost to complete, forecast final cost, margin, variations, valuations and final account
• Maintaining accurate project records, including the daily office diary, delay and blocker reporting, and change control
• Maintaining management oversight of health and safety, RAMS and subcontractor compliance
• Managing subcontractor performance, labour, plant, materials and procurement lead times
• Overseeing QA, snagging, commissioning, O&M manuals, as-built drawings and project handover
• Completing monthly project reviews covering programme, commercial, design, procurement, H&S, quality and risk
• Proven experience as an Electrical Project Manager within a commercial electrical or M&E contractor
• Strong background in installation management on large-scale commercial projects
• SMSTS (essential)
• Commercially aware, with experience working alongside a QS on variations, forecasting and final accounts
• Confident managing site teams, subcontractors and multiple stakeholders, including Tier 1 main contractors
• Organised and disciplined with project records, programme management and reporting
• Electrical trade background, ECS/CSCS card and experience on science, lab, education or data centre projects would be advantageous

• Salary of £75,000 £85,000 (up to £90,000 for an exceptional candidate)
