Job summary

Tata Steel UK is seeking a Project Engineer to oversee the development of a 3.2Mt electric arc furnace project in the UK. You’ll create project plans, coordinate design and procurement, and ensure delivery on time and to budget.

You’ll work with design, safety, and environmental standards, draft technical specifications, and liaise with OEMs and contractors. A degree in Engineering and strong project management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong background in Heavy Industry sector.
• Degree in Engineering is desirable; Chartered Engineer status is a plus.
• Solid understanding of project management techniques, risk assessment, and safety study methods.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to represent the business externally.
• Strong knowledge of Electrical disciplines and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Create project plans and proposals for assigned projects, from concept to final acceptance.
• Oversee all stages of projects, ensuring work meets standards, safety and environmental guidelines.
• Draft technical specifications and RFQs from OEMs and contractor partners.
• Oversee project engineering activities to complete on time and to budget, liaising with stakeholders.
• Support delivery of electrical engineering activities across the full project lifecycle; review designs and documentation.
• Manage contractors and monitor progress; contribute to pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure electrical systems are delivered safely and in compliance.
