Job summary

Tata Steel Colors at Shotton Works is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead capital projects, from concept to handover, ensuring plant improvements align with business strategy.

Qualifications

• Degree/HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in mechanical engineering, project engineering, or project delivery in industrial/manufacturing environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across all organizational levels.
• Strong decision-making and stakeholder management abilities.
• Commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering activities for capital expenditure and plant improvement projects.
• Develop engineering specifications, project scopes, risk assessments, MOC docs and HAZOP studies.
• Prepare project governance plans, progress reports and stakeholder updates.
• Manage procurement processes including tender docs, contractor selection, contracts and delivery.
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, machinery regulations, environmental requirements and Tata Steel standards.
• Support manufacturing and engineering teams with mechanical expertise.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, risks and resources for successful outcomes.
• Liaise with internal/external stakeholders, suppliers and contractors.
• Promote high standards of Health, Safety, Environmental and Process Safety performance.
